
Digital Goa, June 17 – The Directorate of Transport has announced that Electronic Enforcement will be implemented across Goa from July 1, 2026 using the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). Under the system, traffic offences captured by ITMS cameras at 26 identified junctions across the State will automatically generate challans. Key locations include Merces, Verna, Margao, Nuvem, Vasco, Betalbatim, Colva, Benaulim, Curchorem and Mapusa.The notified offences include using a mobile phone while driving, failure to obey traffic signals, not wearing a seat belt, not wearing a helmet, over-speeding, obstructing emergency vehicles, illegal parking, triple riding on two-wheelers, dangerous overtaking, wrong-side driving, carrying passengers in goods vehicles ,use of fancy number plates etc. Fines range from ₹500 to ₹10,000 depending on the offence. Using a mobile phone while driving and dangerous driving offences can attract fines of up to ₹10,000 for repeat violations, while dangerous driving penalties can go up to ₹10,000 for certain vehicle categories. Failure to provide free passage to emergency vehicles (Ambulance/Fire service vehicle) will attract a fine of Rs 10,000. The Transport Department has advised vehicle owners to update their latest mobile numbers against their vehicle registration details through the Parivahan portal or at the respective registering authorities to receive violation alerts.
