Digital Goa, July 1 – Goa Electricity Department has issued a public notice announcing a one-time withdrawal of excess demand and excess energy charges levied on Low Tension (LT) consumers for exceeding their sanctioned load since November 2025. The department has commenced regeneration of electricity bills for the period from November 2025 to June 23, 2026, removing the penal charges and billing consumers only as per the normal applicable tariff. No Delayed Payment Charges (DPC) will be levied on the revised bills.
Automatic load enhancement to continue on a monthly basis until March 31
The department has also introduced an automatic sanctioned load enhancement mechanism. For consumers who were penalised for exceeding their sanctioned load, the sanctioned load will be automatically increased to the highest demand recorded by their meter between November 2025 and June 2026 as a one-time measure. Thereafter, automatic load enhancement will continue on a monthly basis until March 31, 2027. Consumers whose enhanced sanctioned load exceeds 5 kW for single-phase connections or 10 kW for three-phase connections will have to apply online within three months for regularisation by uploading the prescribed documents. Those whose enhanced load remains within these limits will not be required to submit any application, and the enhancement will be treated as regularised for billing purposes. Details of the sanctioned load will be available on the electricity bill.
The department clarified that the automatic enhancement is only for billing regularisation and does not certify the safety or adequacy of a consumer’s electrical installation. Consumers will remain responsible for ensuring their installations are capable of handling the enhanced load. The provisions will also apply to solar net-metering consumers. Consumers can contact the department’s helpline 1912 or their respective sub-divisional offices for assistance regarding bill revision or load regularisation, states the notice.
