Konkan Railway police solve Rs 4 crore Canacona Railway crossing gold heist case; interstate gang of 4 arrested

    Digital Goa, July 3 – Konkan Railway police arrested an interstate gang of 4 including one lady and seized part of the Rs 4 crore gold stolen from a train passenger while the train had stopped for crossing at Canacona Railway Station on May 2 this year. The accused are identified as 40-year-old Sandeep Bhosale from Sangli, 28-year-old Akshay Chinwal from Khanapur Belgaum, Archana More from Taloja, Mumbai and 44-year-old Dhanpat Baid from Parel East, Mumbai. As per information provided by police, 55-year-old Ashok Patil from Mumbai who works as office boy at Mumbai based Jewellery shop, Madhu ornaments was travelling from Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram in Gandhidham Tirunelvelli Humsafar Superfast Express to deliver gold ornaments weighing around 7 Kg worth above Rs 4 Crores. The Mumbai lady Archana More informed the other gang members about this and they hatched a plot to steal the gold. Sandeep and Akshay executed the plan and stole the gold bag when the train had stopped for crossing at Canacona Railway Station. Gold Bars in melted form weighing 1,900gms in different size and shape worth approximately above 1 crore, cash of Rs 50,000, two vehicles Chevorlet Cruze and Maruti Ritz car, two expensive mobile phones have been attached by the Police from the 4 accused.
