Goa govt seeks Centre’s support to fast-track ₹1,900 crore Borim bridge and other road infra projects

    Digital Goa, July 9 – Goa Government has urged the Centre to expedite the ₹1,900-crore Borim bridge project, describing it as the critical missing link across the Zuari river. Speaking at the 237th Mid-Term Council Meeting of the Indian Roads Congress in the presence of Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta, CM Pramod Sawant also sought Central support for the Mollem–Khandepar four-laning project, and the Margao Western Bypass and the Sankhali Bypass road connectivity and safety projects. Sawant said Goa has witnessed its fastest transformation in road infrastructure over the past decade. Of Goa’s 280 km National Highway network, 126 km has been upgraded, while another 70 km is under construction or in the tendering stage, he informed. Since 2014, the Centre has sanctioned 124 National Highway projects worth ₹15,860 crore, along with 19 road safety projects worth ₹378 crore among others. CM said more than ₹16,440 crore has been sanctioned for road infrastructure, of which over ₹7,240 crore has already been spent.
