Feb 3- Goa Cancer Hospital will be commissioned before Dec 2026, informed Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane. He also informed that gap analysis of 4 govt hospitals in Goa – North & South Goa District Hospitals, Ponda Sub District Hospital and Tuem Hospital is underway. The gap analysis being done by 2 expert doctors will help in enhancing the facilities at the hospitals without replicating all facilities. Enhanced facilities will help reduce referrals to GMC, he added. Rane also mooted plans to increase Medical seats at GMC by another 100 by expanding the infrastructure at the Hospital as suggested by MCI. With Center making announcement about starting new AIIMS hospitals across India, the window has been opened again, said Rane adding that the state may apply to the center again requesting for setting up the premier medical institute in Goa.
