ESIC rolls out SPREE 2025 to widen ESI coverage

Digital Goa, July 15 – The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has approved the SPREE 2025 scheme (Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees) to increase social security coverage under the ESI Act. The scheme, open from July 1 to December 31, 2025, offers a one-time opportunity for unregistered employers to enroll themselves and their workers—including contractual and temporary staff—without facing inspections or demands for past dues. Registrations can be done digitally via the ESIC portal, Shram Suvidha, or the MCA portal. Registrations will be valid from the date declared by the employer. No contributions or benefits will apply for periods before that date, and no inspection or demand for pre-registration dues will be made. The scheme aims to remove compliance hurdles and encourage voluntary registration to bring more workers and establishments under ESI coverage, states a release by ESIC.
