Two senior citizens duped of ₹1.58 crore in WhatsApp trading scam

Digital Goa, Sept 16 – Cyber Crime Cell has registered two separate cases after two senior citizens from Tiswadi and Salcete were cheated of a total of ₹1.58 crore in an online trading fraud operated via WhatsApp and Facebook groups. In the first case, a 77-year-old from Dona Paula was lured into investing through a fake website after being added to a WhatsApp group. Believing he would earn high returns, he invested ₹1.28 crore but later found his account blocked. In the second case, a 70-year-old from Raia was contacted by multiple individuals posing as traders and was added to a group. He invested ₹30.20 lakh before realising the scheme was fraudulent.
