IFFI and Goa have become synonymous in the last two decades: CM Sawant

55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was declared open on Nov 20,2024. 55th version of IFFI commenced with the screening of renowned Australian filmmaker Michael Gracey’s feature film ‘Better Man’.

Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant emphasized the deep connection between Goa and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), stating, “When you think of IFFI, you remember Goa, and when you think of Goa, you remember IFFI.” He extended a warm welcome to all festival delegates on behalf of Goans, underscoring the state’s pride in hosting this prestigious event.

In a video message, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted IFFI’s significance in shaping the Indian film industry’s growth. He underscored India’s potential to lead the creators’ economy by leveraging technology and fostering a robust ecosystem for curators. Shri Vaishnaw praised the innovative content being created, showcasing India’s rich heritage, cultures, cuisines, literature, and languages.

Expressing optimism, the Minister said IFFI serves as a platform for forming new partnerships and ideas. He also welcomed initiatives aimed at mentoring young creators, stating that the ideas shared during the festival will shape the future trajectory of the industry.
