Nov 22 – FDA officers and FSSAI-empanelled third-party auditors will conduct thorough hygiene inspections of all restaurant establishments across the state, informed Minister Vishwajeet Rane. He informed that the move has been initiated in response to numerous complaints received from both local residents and tourists regarding unsanitary conditions in a few restaurants in Goa. These comprehensive audits will evaluate adherence to FSSAI food safety standards, maintenance of proper sanitation protocols, staff hygiene training practices, and waste management systems, he added. Restaurant owners must ensure full compliance with these requirements, as non-compliance may result in strict action under existing food safety regulations, Rane warned.
FDA has been instructed to implement stringent measures with immediate effect, he added. Every restaurant is now required to obtain and prominently display an official hygiene rating certificate on their premises.
