Dec 9- In a concerning aviation safety incident, an Air India A320 aircraft (VT-EXT) operating flight AI 2592 from Mopa Airport to Hyderabad allegedly attempted to take off from Taxiway ‘A’ instead of the designated runway on December 5, 2024. The Air Traffic Control (ATC) promptly intervened, instructing the pilots to abort the take-off, which was reportedly at a speed of approximately 120 knots. The aircraft safely vacated the taxiway and returned to the bay without any injuries or damage reported. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has termed the incident a “serious breach of aviation safety” and has sought an explanation from Air India regarding the procedural lapse.
